One chance at this thing called life.

“No man ever steps in the same river twice, for it’s not the same river and he’s not the same man.” I heard this Heraclitus quote a few years ago and it is one that has continued to resonate with me. It is so simple, yet truly profound if you stop and think about it.

We are often held accountable for what we used to think, our former beliefs, values and ideas. We are held accountable for the words we said or didn’t say, and the actions we did or didn’t do. We are endlessly being held accountable for who we used to be.

The truth is, we are always changing, adapting, growing. We are always becoming a new version or ourselves. This is fascinating news.

Every moment, everything that happens in life is our perfect teacher. We learn, heal, grow and transform ourselves from the inside out. Make it a point today to really look at your life and notice the subtle shifts and changes that are occurring. Honor yourself for all that you do and are becoming.

In Natasha Bedingfield’s song, Unwritten, she sings, “Staring at the blank page before you… Live your life with arms wide open – Today is where your book begins – The rest is still unwritten.”

Today, in this moment, you get to write your next chapters. How will you choose them? How will you bring out your most authentic self? This is your life.

We only get one chance at this thing called life. Rock it!
